Weekend in Words and Pictures 8.26...

You'd be surprised how much fun you can have when you say YES when you'd normally say NO.

On Sundays, I like to spend the day lounging around and getting my mind prepared for work the following day.

My friend had always invited me to the beach on Sundays throughout the summer.

I'd politely decline because I had gotten used to my routine.

This time I said yes.

We had SO MUCH FUN!

Looking forward to the next time, despite the fact I was a South Texas Beach Newbie.
Things I learned about going to the beach:

1. Apparently I need a beach towel so I don't have to use my OVERsiZED personal bath sheets at the beach.

2. You will need sunscreen ... & contacts so you can rock cool shades instead of your glasses.

3. You will get sand EVERWHERE and on EVERYTHING!

4. Small children are innately sand dollar whispers and can locate them without much effort.  [My friend's daughter found like 5 today]

5. Leaving gummy worms in a hot car is unsafe...they will melt.

6. Salt water is therapeutic.

7. Seashells are easier to find when you're not trying too hard to look for them.

9. I need to invest in a foldable beach chair.

10. Driving on sand in not that hard...[I may or may not drive better on this terrain than I do the road]

Weekend in Words and Pictures 8.25...

I spent the day with myself.
The older I get, the more I realize that rolling solo-dolo is not so bad.
I don't have a man.
Being in the company of genuine people fills that void.
And when you share your time with others, whoever they are, you learn to appreciate your time alone.

I was asked by a reader if I have ever knotted a Maxi dress.

024

Why yes I have.

I decided to demonstrate the brilliance in doing so by showcasing what I wore today.

2012-08-25

The picture in the middle of the collage is merely what this outfit could be with the addition of this scarf.

Subtract that accessory, and this is what I really wore. It was just too hot to put on all those clothes.

031

038

After engaging in myself portraits, I decided to treat myself to some personal nail care.

So off I went to have my nails and toes done.

This is how they looked before:

And this, is after:

This is Rue 21's Age of Aqua-rious! Which I found one by the exact name and shade by Color Club while Googling for an image.

I had EVERY intention upon going to the mall and having my eyebrows threaded.

But I found myself going in some stores.

Here are some things I tried on...

2012-08-252

Even after Tax-Free weekend, I found some AMAZING deals.

I am already concocting how these looks can be worn now that its warmer, and winterized for the cooler months.

And now...

I'm watching "The Hunger Games."

I was ecstatic to see it had come out in the Red Box!

In Orange ....

039

Orange Texas That is...

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about going out of town.

Besides stopping in Houston, we traveled to Orange, Texas.

That is where my friend is from.

And being from Arkansas myself, I TOTALLY get her Southern Charm.

I was feeling extra cute and casual on the day of our departure back home.

So, I went on and took some outfit pics using this beautiful scenery as a backdrop.

036

I absolutely LOVE how they came out too.

To my dismay, I put on this dress and it had some bleach spots in the most obvious of places...It is one of my favs so  I was determined to wear it, bleach stains and all.

I was going to do a 'lil DIY with a magic marker, but never got the chance.

I will though, because I absolutely love this dress and how cute and casual it is!

It's nothing like a figure-accentuating dress that makes you put a lil pep in your step...

040

And with this vest, I thought it just added a 'lil something extra to the look.

...Maybe even a little sophistication.

038

I used this newly-acquired clutch as a last minute touch to this look. Naomi gave me the idea as she said she always carries a 'lil purse to her nail outings. ...Cuts down on space to look for keys and such.

034

She was right.

I was so ecstatic how fashionable the python-inspired print was.

Dress Up & Eat Cake...

018

Despite my car woes, I have been blessed to have individuals that have helped me to get where I need to go.

These are mostly people I work with.

And for that, I am grateful.

Right now I am in the process of going after a collision company that did some faulty repairs to my vehicle.

My car is brand new. So the transmission SHOULD NOT be shot!

And if it were my fault, I would suck it up and pay up.

But it is not...

Anyway, I went to a wedding reception last night.

I had to hitch a ride to the event, but I had fun anyway.

I love to dress up and go dancing. I didn't eat cake though, although I had every intention upon doing so.

Here are some of my favorite pictures at the event.

And these are some I took afterwards.

I bought these shoes on my recent trip to Houston.
044
When I saw them, I KNEW they were the ones and I wasn't leaving the store without them.
053
So even though I am FIGHTING with my insurance company and two car dealerships, I am still making the best out of a bad situation.
Let's hope they can give me a loaner car to go to school next week.

My Weekend in Pictures 8.12.12

My weekend started out TRASHY!
So, I call my bank on the way to work to check my balance.
It's payday.
And I was still broke!
After a conversation with a live teller, it was confirmed that my check hadn't been deposited...
I was already running late.
So I went to the Accounting Department at my job and sure enough there was a discrepancy that involved everyone that got direct deposit...REALLY?!
They ended up issuing paper checks that day, which was cool.

How-ever

On the way back from haggling with the owner of a thrift store for this magnificent bag,

WP_000299

She won BTW and the purse stayed in the store;

My car ended up here...

WP_000303

But none-the-less, my friend Naomi drug me out of town for the weekend to forget about my troubles.

We grabbed breakfast at this bakery on the way out.

002

They had every sweet confection known to man!  The set-up was where you grabbed a tray and chose the varieties of sweets you wanted out of these cases made like those you get doughnuts from in a grocery store. It was like a buffet of sweets.

001

We did a pit-stop in Houston to visit my long-lost college buddy and her son...

012

She doesn't bit more look like any one that has had a two year old than a man in the moon.

011

[Translation: The possibility that she looks like she has the body of someone that gave birth is about that of a man being in the moon...]

016

After we left H-Town hours after we planned, we went to Naomi's home town in Orange Texas.

Fun times!

We ate at the Waffle House, which I sorely miss because they are nonexistent in South Texas

043

051

And we got our nails done.

I am so amazed that these are my REAL NAILS! They have come so far!

054

This is how they looked after my polish change.

057

I went with Orly's Lemonaide!

So pretty.

Naomi found this pretty green by Color Club Twiggie.
058

So pretty on her!

Now its back to reality, where I am having to bum rides to work and back home.
But there's always next weekend...

Hopefully Eboni [my car] won't need that much done to her.
