Boot Game on Deck!

I just wanted to take some time to showcase some boots that I've purchased for the up-coming cold season.
As I was shopping, I could recollect the embarrassment I felt when my boss came in my office with a ruler and sent me home because my shoes were .5 inches from the recommended heel height.
As with all my shoes, I look for soles that play by the rules but have an heir of edge.
Kinda like sticking my middle finger up to the powers that be, or developing my own system within theirs...

005

These are my Babies from Target! They are perfect for print mixing, with leggings and a drapey top/over-sized sweater, colored skinnies or even with a maxi dress/skirt!

006

These were my First Purchase from gojane.com ! They are perfection as they offer edginess with the glitter and stud details but the comfort of flat soles! I can imagine these adding an intetesting POP to a monochrome ensamble or an eccentric nuetral to some print-mixing as well...BTW they also come in black!

004
These are my FAVS from gojane.com ! When I opened the box, literally fell in love...and the fit is AMAZING! I will be rocking these with my pencil skirts and blouses or even some floral/printed pants, a nice top and blazers. They can also go casual with leggings or jewel-colored skinnies as well!
These styles can be incorperated into one's wardrobe all year 'round... as they are ankle boots and they are flat.
As I rule for msyelf though, I generally wait until the weather in my state has cooled off some to consistently rock closed-toe shoes.
Like, these riding boots I purchased from The Avenue last weekend...

2012-09-29
They are definately cool weather boots  in my mind!

I just love how they added a faux barnished-gold zipper for detail and then another zipper that's less noticible for funtionality! I also love how they don't have that typical "riding boot look" with a more almond-shaped toe and contrasted heel color.
And Here are some honorable mentions that I definitely have my eye on!
Christian Serrano for Payless...With the BOGO +15% off, these Babies Might be in my closet sooner rather than later!

Put them on with a black body con dress and some gold statement jewelry and you are DONE!

I swear the mintue I thought about red booties, these materialzed on the Forever21 website. For the price, they weren't bad. So they are being shipped as I type!
They also come in cobalt.
I saw these in the Alloy Catalog that came in the mail.
They are avalible on alloy.com as well and are in other colors.
My only reservation is that they may not go up these massive calves of mine...Maybe I can cop some that are similar from the Avenue...
In other news, I got my hair cut shorter on my most recent visit to the salon.
057
I just love how short hair opens up my face and dramatizes my features!
067
My stylist never ceases to amaze me with the quality of work she puts out!
I can't wait to play around with more elements to make the style even more fierce!!!!!

Challange!

2012-09-24

Taking yourself to higher heights and deeper depths in fashion...

When I saw this dress, I thought it was...meh. You know, the sound you make when you feel indifferent about something.

I didn't hate it.

But I didn't love it either.

I tried it on and I was a little more convinced but not in LOVE ... (A cosign from a friend got me to that point).
005

I rationalized that I needed some pieces I could wear to work and that could easily translate from the warmer days in fall to chilly winter temps. And I could take it back if I got it home and thought it was sheer hideousness!

So today as I engaged in my morning routine, the dress came to mind again.

I knew it needed a little pop & sizzle if I was going to wear it.
That's when I thought of my bright orange oxfords...

006

Three more carefully calculated accessories later, (the necklace, earrings and watch,  and I had made magic happen!

...At least in my mind.

007

I give myself props for taking a garment that was out of my comfort zone and doing something with it I can be confident about.

Now that...

Is a real Fashionista Challenge...

Fall Flashes ...

2012-09-171

I am in agreement with most of the bloggers I follow.
Yes, fall has started for me too.
It got to the point that I went on and christened these boots for most of the weekend.
026
They are the perfect knock-off version to these Sam Edelman's
...But at a FRACTION of the price!
I think the weather is getting with the program in that it has been raining more and more.
As you may know, rain is an indicator of when cold air mixes with warm air in the atmosphere.
[I guess those Geology classes in undergrad paid off...]
It is also getting cooler in the mornings and less muggy, which is why I ventured out this morning to do myself portraits.
021
I started to go totally neutral to incorporate the colors in the boots to elements of this look above my ankles.
But then I saw a flicker of these fabulous earrings in a bag of jewels still unpacked from my trip home a few weeks ago.
017
I had a" DUH Tammie !" moment and instantly knew neon pops would do the trick for this outfit.
I pranced around like I KNEW I had it going on all day...
024
In my mind I did!
And that feeling is needed on a Monday morning!

I decided to go with a Mauve color with a glitter finish!
I love how this color can be springy or fall, depending on how you spin it!
/Side Note:/ I was spied by more than a few neighbors  while taking myself shots today...I just acted natural hoping they would go away...they did.
As a result, this shot came about...

Dressy Cash...

...As in Dressy Casual
For a lot of Fashionistas out there work wear includes the following:
  • Slacks
  • Heels
  • Dresses
  • Hosiery
  • Blazers
  • And Dressy Blouses

Not I...

Due to the clientele that we cater to, we can wear jeans every day if we want...

And I think a lot of individuals did...

Until I came along.

I still try to ascribe to the casualness of my place of work.

But I also throw some dressy in there too.

It's a challenge to try to pull off looks that are not too pretentious, but still stylish annnnnnnnd with flats no less.

I agree with a lot of folks' whose Blogs I follow when they showcase a look that becomes even more extraordinary with a nice pair of heels.

I envy that they can wear them.

Here are some looks that I concocted in my efforts to try to mix the casual with the dressy for work.
/Side Note/: On the pictures where I am wearing heels, its just for aesthetic purposes!
